The Grand Reopening

Members of the club met last wednesday and I am happy to say that Culcheth Chess Club will now be reopening.

Wednesday 1st September from 7.30pm and each Wednesday there after shall be our new club night.

You will find us playing in the upstairs room at THE PACK HORSE CULCHETH

Members at the meeting expressed a determination that from now on we will make a big effort to maintain this evening for chess irrespective of whether or not we have a match on.

We would like to invite all local chess players to attend for a game whenever they feel like it. If you play for another local club who meet on a different night you are also most welcome to join us for a game and you can still play for your own club in the league.

Junior players are welcome to attend under parental supervision, although children completely new to chess may prefer to start at the nearby junior chess club in Warrington with whom we are partnered.

Playing Safety:

Whilst masks are not compulsory, we will do our best to keep the room well ventilated and maintain a degree of social distancing between chessboards.

I would also encourage members that plan on attending to perform a covid rapid antigen test before visiting. They are very easy to do take 15 minutes and are free to order on the NHS website. This isn’t something we can force you to do but personally I think it is a basic courtesy to others that you can perform to help put everyones minds at rest about the Coronavirus. Research shows rapid tests are 99.9% accurate. (stat from NHS Website)

Hope to see you over the chess board next Wednesday night for a friendly game!
