{"id":163,"date":"2019-10-01T19:56:58","date_gmt":"2019-10-01T18:56:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/culchethchessclub.com\/blog\/?p=163"},"modified":"2019-10-01T20:55:21","modified_gmt":"2019-10-01T19:55:21","slug":"northwich-v-culcheth-b","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/culchethchessclub.com\/blog\/2019\/10\/01\/northwich-v-culcheth-b\/","title":{"rendered":"Northwich v Culcheth B"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Following our\ndisappointing loss to St Helens (2.5-3.5) and our opening day thrashing against\nthe A team (1-5) we faced Northwich on a cold dark wet Monday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Driving in\nlashing rain with poor visibility is no fun, but the B team all arrived safely so\nwell done to everyone for their dedication to the cause \u2013 lets hope it was all\nworthwhile !!.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On to the\nmatch\u2026\u2026.. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both teams\nhad started their A division campaigns with 2 losses so this was an opportunity\nfor one of us to put points on the board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A bad start\nas we lost the toss and Northwich had white on odd boards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the\ngames began\u2026\u2026\u2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First Blood\nto Culcheth\u2026\u2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Board 6<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mike\u2019s\nopponent decided he wanted to get home early (who can blame him) and generously\nallowed his knight to become isolated, unprotected and lost after only 8 moves\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"398\" height=\"398\" src=\"https:\/\/culchethchessclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Rotchell.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-166\" srcset=\"https:\/\/culchethchessclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Rotchell.png 398w, https:\/\/culchethchessclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Rotchell-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/culchethchessclub.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Rotchell-300x300.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 398px) 85vw, 398px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The game\nhad just gone 5\u2026.f6?! 6.Bh4 and now black followed up with 6\u2026g5?? Oh dear !!\n7.Nxg5 Bf5 ???
